In 1982, Ferranti Ltd rescued Tantus Microsystems Limited, suppliers of software based credit betting systems to bookmakers. Ferranti repositioned the company into using similar technology for data input and position keeping for the foreign exchange and money market trading rooms of major banks. This company was purchased by Heyde AG in 1999.
